Today, I am Grateful for My Depression…

Today…

I am Grateful for my ACNE… because without it, I wouldn’t know that there was a problem in my body to take care of.

I am  Grateful for my ILLNESS…because without it, I wouldn’t have changed my eating habits.

I am Grateful for my for my DEPRESSION… because without it, I wouldn’t have surrendered to spirituality.

I am Grateful for my HOPELESSNESS… because without it, I wouldn’t have believed in faith.

I am Grateful for my INSOMNIA…because without out it, I wouldn’t have the quietness of my loneliness.

I am Grateful for my LONELINESS… because without it, I wouldn’t have epiphanies, ideas, and inspirations.

I am Grateful for my ADD… because without it, I wouldn’t have SO many ideas, variety, and perspectives to begin with.

I am Grateful for my UNFOUND PURPOSE…because without, I wouldn’t have a story of a journey.

I am Grateful for my past WASTED TIME doing foolish things…because without it, their would be no pressure to catch up and do my best.

I am Grateful for my LACK THERE OF…because without it I wouldn’t strive for the abundance of.

I am Grateful for ALL THE NEGATIVE… because without it, there would be no positive.

I am Grateful for the VERY WORST… because without it, there would not be THE VERY BEST.

Because change is constant, all things pass, and are never permanent.

And where there is one thing, there is always the EXISTENCE of its equal and opposite.

So, I wish upon all my friends, family, and enemies the greatest and deepest adversity…

Because the greater your DEPRESSION… the GREATER YOUR HAPPINESS…

for the greater the challenge, the greater the triumph at the end.

Gratitude, Kindness, & Generosity ONLY in Thanksgiving & Christmas!

So, we ALL know that it’s only normal to be kind and generous to others ONLY on Thanksgiving & Christmas right? And of course have our oh so grateful family prayer before our dinner surrounded by all the people we love (or think we love, check out my first winter holiday post for better reference The Fake Personality of The Winter Holidays, Am I a Grinch?) ONLY on these 2 special days out of the whole year! It’s totally not cool to do it any other day out of the year. It’s just not normal, and I mean who cares about the rest of the days right? Are you an Empath or HSP?

This is the article post that CHANGED MY LIFE! ❤ Thank you, Diane, for this article and your blog. ❤ I am forever grateful.

Empaths Empowered

The definitions between an Empath and a highly sensitive person (HSP) are so similar that some may question as to which camp they fall in. Hopefully, after reading this you may have a better idea.

Here are some of the type of questions Elaine N. Aron uses in her book, ‘The Highly Sensitive Person’, to decide a HSP:

(The stronger you relate to the questions is an indication of your Sensitivity.)

  1. Are you aware of subtleties in your environment?
  2. Do other people’s moods affect you?
  3. Are you sensitive to pain?
  4. Do you need to withdraw if you are having a busy day?
  5. Are you sensitive to the effects of caffeine?
  6. Are you easily overwhelmed by strong smells, bright lights or loud noises?
  7. Do you have a rich and complex inner life?
  8. Are you conscientious?
  9. Do you startle easily?
  10. Are you aware how to make others feel more comfortable?
  11. Do you…

Explaining Who You Are as An Empath

Great Article!

Empaths Empowered

A question that often comes up on my blog, and on Facebook, is how to better explain to others who we are as Empaths. Although I have written about the subject in the past, I feel it’s a good time to revisit the topic because it can be such a frustrating part of Empath life.

When we awaken to our Empath ways everything we’ve experienced emotionally and physically, when around people, finally makes sense. We understand our need for time alone, why we feel such crazy energy when in busy places, and why we experience such overpowering emotions when with certain people. We come to accept our ‘inner knowing’ as the incredible guiding force it is and stop fighting or ignoring the intuition that comes with it.

We often become so excited by our newfound knowledge that we want to tell the world. We have an explanation for all the inexplicable things…

Hong Kong 香港粵語 Night Life

Hong Kong Night Life is definitely a different scene compared to where I’m from (Laredo, TX, USA but more on that later). There are quite a few things that surprised me about this city in it’s black cape. Here are 5 things that may come to a surprise as an American, Texan, or even other nationalities when adventuring through HK’s night scene.

1.Bars close LATE.

Ok so maybe this might only apply to Texans and a couple of US states lol. Most bars and clubs close at 2am and if they are open later, they aren’t allowed to sell alcohol past 2am. BUT IN HK, pretty much every bar and club close at 4 am or sometimes even later! Yes, my fellow Texans, it is true. It is real. So if you wanna keep the party going ’till the sun comes up, make sure to come here!

2. If you’re 18, you won’t get X’s on your hand.

18? Wanna drink? Wanna be one of the cool kids? But have to go straight to the bathroom to wash off your Sharpie markered X’s on your hands along with the other 10 girls pushing each other to wash their’s first? All just to be greeted by the sterned faced security guards right outside to escort you out of the club? Hey, don’t look at me. Not like I used to do that. Just trying to be creative here you know? Don’t get any ideas. (Wipe with a tissue paper and your saliva). WELL if you’re in HK, you’re definitely in for a break! The legal drinking age here is 18! Yes! No need to worry about plastering extra lipstick and eyeliner to look at least of age. Here it is perfectly legal to drink at age 18! And while I was turning 21 my first night out, it was a little too late to celebrate my ability to legally drink there haha but if you’re 18 and looking to let loose, you’ve got it made here 😉

Mong Kong Neon LightsNeon Lights with Cantonese ads just like what you’d see in the movies. Yes it’s true.

3. You can drink alcohol ANYWHERE except for the Metro!

While in the US it’s illegal to drink outside of licensed premises, in HK its perfectly normal to see someone walking down the street drinking out of a tallee. It is neither illegal or frowned upon. In fact, I remember going to a certain restaurant where the owner actually gave us free beer to take in our back packs for the trip back to our home! The man was so jolly and loved us so much, he insisted we even take the cooler! And while I must say it was pretty cool to be able to drink a beer whilst waiting for a taxi, it did feel quite odd. I must ask, is this what an alcoholic’s version of culture shock is? 😛

4. It is perfectly normal to dance on the bar top.

For all my wild, Coyote Ugly inspired girls out there, yes it is totally normal for anyone to dance on the bar top! When in HK, your chance to strut your inner diva moves is here! The party is so strung everyone’s on the bar! Don’t be afraid to get wild! Just not too wild lol and while you’re at it, you might as well have a small chat with people from any part of the world! Yes, HK is known as an international business city, and it’s not common for locals to party. So you’ll first find yourself talking to a very cultured individual from Indonesia when you’re up there. Turn around and you’re talking to a mighty chic girl from Australia. Hit another dance move and you’re meeting a dirty martini holding gal from NY! Who new a bar top could be so international?

5. The Neon Lights

Ah those dreamy dreamy neon lights. Written in a language you can only hope to understand. It is true. They’re just like in the movies. And while one may say, “Girl, they just neon lights. Chill out,” they’re more than that. Coming from a small town in South Texas, dozens and dozens of colorful neon lights were something I had only seen in movies before. It is those lights that had me dreaming of bigger cities; of traveling and maybe living one day in one of those big cities myself. Seeing these signs in person, especially in an asian language, had me apalled. I did it. I had actually come across the world to not only a bigger city but one across the sea. One with a different language. Something that had seemed so quixotic and one dimensional at one point in my life had now become three dimensional and real. I spread my arms out in the middle of the busy street, threw my head back, and spun around. I smiled and said to myself, “Look at me. LOOK at me. I can do big things too. It IS possible. Look at me now!” I smiled, and I continued with my journey for I knew that this was the sign of only the beginning of more signs to come (corny, I know, but I just had to throw that pun in there lol). Keep dreaming guys, and maybe someday it too will come true.
